The beautiful snowy Macedonian landscape

I am currently visiting Macedonia for the Urban Resonances project. With a group of artists and teachers from the Utrecht School of Music and Technology we travel from our home base Skopje through the country for concerts and master classes at schools and faculties of music.

The project is an initiative of the Zoey foundation for arts and culture in the Netherlands and Public Room in Macedonia. You can read more about the project at their websites: ZOEY / Public Room

The first school we visited in Bitola

After visiting schools in Bitola, Sztip, Tetovo and Skopje, the final concert of the project will be in Skopje on Saturday. It’s a great experience driving through an unknown country full of surprises with a group of likeminded people. We build up our quadraphonic set-up including a 3x4 video screen and are ready to start in less then an hour - we jokingly call them ‘guerilla performances’.

Tarik and the team setting up the equipment in Bitola

In the Urban Resonances team we have Hans Timmermans, Gerard van WolferenJorrit Tamminga, Katerina Pejoska, Tarik Barri and myself. Other than Tarik (who graduated in 2008) we are all lecturers at the Utrecht School of Music and Technology.
